how far can turkeys hear

Turkeys have relatively keen hearing, but the exact distance they can hear depends on several factors, such as the type of sound, environmental conditions, and any background noise. Generally, turkeys can hear sounds within their frequency range (which is similar to that of humans) at distances of up to 1 mile (1.6 kilometers) in ideal conditions. However, in a forested or noisy environment, this range is significantly reduced, typically to about 1/4 mile (400 meters).

Turkeys also use vision as their primary sense for detecting danger, so while they can hear sounds from a distance, their hearing is primarily used for communication and detecting movement within their immediate vicinity.
